From George and Amal Clooney to Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, these celebrity couples headed down the aisle early on in their relationship
For some couples, it only takes a few months before they are ready to head down the aisle.
Several celebrities have gotten married within a year of dating. Exes Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom got married in September 2009, just 30 days after they met at a party. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky met and married in 2010 and have been together since.
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas also got married shortly after meeting in person. In February 2025, the actress told Harper’s Bazaar U.K. that she “wouldn’t have married” him if he hadn’t checked all the right boxes.
“You have to look for someone who respects you,” she said. “Respect is different from love and affection … You’ve got to kiss a lot of frogs until you find your prince.”
Below, here are 10 celebrities who got married after less than a year of dating.
1. Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom
Kardashian and Odom first met at a party in August 2009 and got engaged just a few weeks later. Nine days after Odom asked her to marry him, the pair wed that September.
They stayed together for a few years until Kardashian filed for divorce from the former Lakers player in December 2013. In the months prior, rumors were circulating that he had cheated on her.
Though she later called off their divorce when he experienced a near-fatal drug overdose, she ended up filing again in May 2016. The couple’s divorce was finalized that December.
2. George Clooney and Amal Clooney
George Clooney and Amal Clooney (née Alamuddin) met in July 2013 through a mutual friend. They communicated over email for several months before they were able to get together in person for their official first date in London that October.
In April 2014, George asked Amal to marry him.
“I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal,” he said on CBS Mornings of their engagement. “When I asked her we had never talked about it. There wasn’t like ‘Maybe we should get married.’ I dropped it on her!”
They got married in September 2014 and have since welcomed two kids, twins Alexander and Ella.
3. Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky
Hemsworth and Pataky are still going strong after getting married within months of meeting.
The pair were introduced in 2010 by Hemsworth’s talent agent. They became an official couple by September and got married in Australia in December 2010. They went on to welcome three kids: daughter India Rose Hemsworth and twin boys Sasha Hemsworth and Tristan Hemsworth.
“It’s funny that people think of us as a perfect couple,” Pataky told Australian magazine body+soul about her love story with Hemsworth in August 2020. “No way. It’s been ups and downs, and we still keep working at the relationship.”
4. Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee
Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee had a whirlwind romance. In February 1995, just days after they began seeing each other, Anderson and Lee got married on a beach in Cancun.
“It really was love at first sight,” the Baywatch star told PEOPLE in 2015. “I only knew him four days before I married him.”
They welcomed two children together, Brandon Thomas and Dylan Jagger.
Anderson initially filed for divorce from the Mötley Crüe drummer in November 1996, before they had welcomed Dylan. She filed for divorce from Lee again in February 1998.
That May, Lee was sentenced to jail for six months over charges of spousal abuse, the Associated Press reported at the time. The musician was also sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from Anderson.
In his 2001 band memoir, The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, Lee wrote that they split because they were “fighting all the time,” per Rolling Stone.
“Trying to raise our children, continue the careers that consumed us, make a new relationship work and deal with the non-stop barrage of bulls— in the press was more of a challenge than we ever could have expected,” he wrote.
5. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra
Jonas and Chopra are another couple who quickly tied the knot.
In 2016, Jonas reached out to her on Twitter (now X) and suggested they go on a date after a push from mutual friends, Chopra later told Vogue. They met for the first time in 2017, but didn’t start dating until 2018. They got engaged that July and walked down the aisle that December.
“We got married really quick, within six months of meeting,” she told Variety in February 2026. “When I first married him, I didn’t know if it was even real. This part of him. Because I was like, ‘This is crazy. This is put on.’ But Nick has this absolute sincerity.”
The pair have since started a family, welcoming their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, via surrogate in 2022.
6. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon
Former couple Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon had quite the romance. The pair met in 2005, but they didn’t start dating until 2008 — the same year that they got married.
Cannon’s relative confirmed their nuptials to E! News in May 2008 after the couple dated for less than two months.
In 2014, the couple — who welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan Cannon — called it quits after six years of marriage. They finalized their divorce in November 2016.
Despite a complex divorce, Carey and Cannon are now on good terms and focused on co-parenting their kids.
“There’s no hard feelings and ill will,” Cannon told PEOPLE in 2017. “Ultimately, it’s about putting the kids first and making sure they have the best childhood they could possibly have.”
Cannon has since welcomed 10 more children with five different women, though he has not remarried since his split from Carey.
7. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are another couple who got married quickly and are still going strong.
The pair met at an event in May 2014 and got engaged seven months later. They tied the knot in their Beverly Hills home in January 2015.
Since then, they’ve welcomed three children: Nautas, Raddix and Cardinal.
8. Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger
Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger knew they were meant to be.
The couple were first spotted together in June 2018. One month after Pratt finalized his divorce from ex-wife Anna Faris, he and Schwarzenegger went Instagram official that December. They got engaged in January 2019 and wed on June 8, 2019.
Pratt shared a carousel of photos on Instagram in honor of their seventh wedding anniversary on June 8, writing, “Grateful that I get to share this lifetime with you. Happy 7 years, Darling!”
They’ve welcomed three children: daughters Eloise and Lyla, and a son named Ford. Pratt is also a dad to son Jack, whom he shares with Faris.
9. Drew Barrymore and Jeremy Thomas
When Drew Barrymore was 19 years old, she met 31-year-old Jeremy Thomas at a bar he owned in L.A. in 1993.
After dating for just six weeks, they married in March 1994.
“Usually people live together first and then get married,” Barrymore told PEOPLE following their nuptials. “I guess we’re doing it the old-fashioned way. Kind of.”
The couple called it quits 19 days later, and they finalized their divorce in 1995.
After going their separate ways, Barrymore went on to marry Tom Green in 2001 and Will Kopelman — the father of her two kids — in 2012. However, she and Kopelman had a “painful” divorce in 2016.
10. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries had a short-lived romance. The pair dated for less than a year before getting married on Aug. 20, 2011.
However, just 72 days later, Kardashian filed for divorce from the former NBA player and cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split. Humphries responded by requesting an annulment on the grounds of fraud, sparking a nearly two-year legal battle between the former couple.
Kardashian and Humphries reached a divorce settlement in April 2013 and finalized their divorce that June. At the time, the SKIMS founder was dating Kanye West and pregnant with their first child, North West.
She and Kanye married and welcomed three more children before their divorce was finalized in 2022. As for Humphries, he has not remarried.
